The antique frame references archival images in cabochon type frames . These frames often contained tinted, collaged photographs of places visited on exotic tours of duty and religious iconography. They are full of nostalgia. Large convex frames of this type are very hard to source. The bubble glass becomes a pocket of oxygen or survival chamber/cockpit. The oval shape allows a flowing movement within the design. The element of nostalgia and religious references are integral to the choice of frame. The work relates to the sacrifice of both men and women in the navy during war time.
