The Nonsense of the Sage
This work is rooted in a quatrain by Omar Khayyam and explores the tension between wisdom, reason, and the search for meaning. The figure withdraws into an almost cave-like space, surrounded by mathematical equations, Persian poetry, and English text, as though searching for an answer to the meaning of existence. Yet the deeper he moves into this search, the more uncertain and isolated he becomes.
The dense, earthy surface suggests a gradual disappearance into soil and darkness. The Nonsense of the Sage questions whether all the reasoning, thoughts, and philosophies that thinkers develop to explain life might ultimately be like a legend or a story told before sleep — meaningful for a moment, but disappearing when we wake.
