The Shallow Tin Project
This series of 52 still-life photographs shows objects in a 1953 Coronation sweet tin, sized approx 4.5 x 6 inches and 1 inch deep. The tin acts as a frame and a constraint in deciding what can be fitted in. Additionally, the subject in each piece corresponds to a single letter of the alphabet, each used twice during the project.
The images were made as part of REVOLVE, a year-long project with 14 other artists, each of us made a small original piece of work, once per week for 52 weeks – one revolution of the earth around the sun.
The only rules were that the work should be postcard sized – it could be in any medium, it could be themed or on a topic of any choice, or completely random. The culmination of the project is an exhibition of all 780 pieces by the 15 artists.
