The Value of Sacred Trees (Towne II)

Oil on canvas, burnt umber bistre (wipe-out) technique. This painting is part of an ongoing series reproducing anatomical specimens from various collections as portraits in their own right. It is a study of an anatomical wax model by Joseph Towne, made for the Great Exhibition in 1851.
