THE WAR AT SEA: GHOST SHIP

I made this drawing in response to images of old shipwrecks exposed by the drying up of rivers and estuaries during the recent severe heatwave and drought that hit Europe.

The sea is the great leveller for those leaders possessed with an exaggerated sense of their own awareness and intelligence. For examples look back in history to the disastrous armada invasion attempt of Japan in 1274 by the greatest superpower of the time Kublai Khan's Mongolian/China, or to the disastrous armada invasion attempt of England in 1588 by the greatest superpower of the time Philip ll's Spain. Today we have a reality tv host president presiding over the greatest superpower the world has ever seen deluding himself and much of his country into believing that he is the only one with a handle on the debacle of the Strait of Hormutz.

Ghost ships have a habit of returning to haunt even the most deluded vain and egocentric leaders.
