Three Windows

By  Bev Broadhead 2023
A collaboration with writer Sue Burge. A mixed media artwork where words and images coalesce to celebrate the 650 year anniversary of Julian of Norwich. The group exhibition is held over 3 Norwich churches, St Julian's (the site of the anchoress' cell), St John's in Timberhill, and St Stephen's, in Rampant Horse Street, where this piece is showing. St Stephen's is a working café and community hub. This work results from researching uncovered medieval wall paintings, particularly borders, and architecture. The aesthetic reflects a period of deep social divisions, plague, and hope to reflect the contemplative mindset of the first known woman to write in the vernacular, whilst enshrined in a cell.
