Thuringian Detour

Ewan Robertson

Multiple small works in iron created in Wroclaw exploring further various iron casting processes. Resin bonded sand direct polystyrene burnout and ceramic shell processes were used here from modelled wax objects, found objects and pre-fabricated wooden patterns. Here these have been roughly wired to a raw concrete form. This work is loosely associated with various anecdotes and stories from the life of JS Bach, particularly his wanderings and travels as a student and young Cantor around what is now northern Germany. The ideas around this work stems from Bach’s approach to life as opposed to his work in music.
