Tidbinbilla and in August too

By  Mary Vivienne 2006

Roger Cann

This work is about a particular experience. In 1997 I was in Australia during the blooming of the wattle (mimosa), Australia's national flower. Walking through the forests of Tidbinbilla beneath an undercanopy of flowering wattle, my eyes were suffused with yellow. Light on yellow, light through yellow, light as yellow. Added to a perfume to intoxicate, it was an experience to float on.
