Lifejackets combine the horror of death with the fun of living. This piece symbolises pollution and lack of respect for the environment. The polythene represents plastic shopping bags washed up on the beach and the buoyancy is provided by old plastic drink bottles, discarded and found on the beach. The polythene is screen printed with quotes from old postcards and the fish skin collar represents the dead fish found floating in the sea killed by pollution or thrown overboard as too small to satisfy the fishing regulations.
