v Transactions (5 mins) is a film made during a residency at Spacex Gallery in 2004 for the Homelands exhibition. It was an exploration of the coexistence of reality and the imagination in daily life. this consisted in a walk through the city of Exeter in which certain locations triggered visions which are represented by the animated sequences. I frequently blow up photographs and work over them, erasing the previous captured frame either as a whole or in part before moving on to the next.

Twig that Got Stuck in My Hair

This is another work from the ongoing 'Correspondences' series, exploring aspects of the digital world, particularly the internet. It's a larger painting than those I previously made using similar, almost 'Pointillist' or 'Divisionist' methods, and the subject matter is to do with a specific connection with a film. A frame from that film (The Apu Trilogy part 1 director: Satyajit Ray, cameraman: Subatra Mitra) forms the lower layer, and the speckled layer over the top partly obscures this, and…
