Based on the columnar maze qualities of woodland this sculpture also pulls on the massive angular mass of the Egyptian Temple of Karnack as its inspiration. The echo of the great Hypostyle Hall at Karnack is felt in the glades of massive sweet chestnut trees at Black Park. The piece puts the geography of the park into a human scaled microcosm complete with lake and forest. The commission included work with local year 10 students as part of the national curriculum.
