Uncle Eric's Box: 15 Boxes (detail of 3 boxes)

By  Henny Burnett 2001
Fifteen muslin boxes were cast from a single metal trunk. It held artefacts and curios collected by the artist's great-great uncle, an Edwardian entomologist/explorer. The sized muslin picked up the rust from the trunk like a monoprint. Each box is suspended so that the viewer has to lean to view the recess in the lid. These panels display memorabilia and field notes as museum exhibits, or memorials.
