This was a site specific, ephemeral project undertaken in woodland on the ancient Hampshire Hangers. I worked for 3 days along side fellow artist Diane Thiessen to make a response to the location using only materials found on the site. The resulting piece focuses on the architectural echoes of the young beech wood and aims to pull the accidental audience into an enchanted circle between five trees. During the 3 days of making, evidence of visitors, human and animal, were noted in foot prints, brushing of the floor space and even in offerings left behind. One visitor likened the pattern-making with materials found within this circle to Buddhist sand and rice drawings which are swept away when completed. Prophetically too, as on the 4th morning I found that the piece had been completely pulled down.
