Untitled drawing (after Vredeman)
Created and installed for the 195 Miles Project at PSL (Leeds) in conjunction with the Whitechapel Gallery (London). This wall collage explores the relationship between the viewer, the walls as 'picture plane' and a 'virtual sculpture' based on the drawings of the 16th century architect Hans Vredeman de Vries. The object, drawn in a CAD programme, is 'installed' within the gallery space using Google Earth, then two different views of the object are collaged onto the wall. These views represent a 'correct' perspective view when standing directly in the centre of each wall, viewing from 2 meters. The shadows are correct for the location at 12 noon, the opening time of the gallery.
