Morwenna Catt

This significant site specific art work on the theme of Upcycling, making the old and unwanted new and loved again showcased in situ at ‘A Vintage Guild’,the initial Guild 2012 weekend showcase event co-curated by locally born and internationally renowned designers Wayne Hemingway MBE and Gerardine Hemingway MBE, alongside Festival Director Stella Hall. The artist worked with nostalgic vintage objects. Recreating them as large upcycled objects, embroidered and embellished within a natural 'shrine' area with rocks and a pool. The centre-piece is a Virgin Mary with a pink afro who floats above the rocks with a golden halo created in old curtain fabrics. Other characters within the scene are Tretchikoffs Blue Lady, a set of flying ducks, the Test Card girl and a Giant Fisher Price dog on wheels.
