The installation consists of 6 piano stools, customised using reclaimed church organ parts, giving each one a ‘personality’ much like individual musicians in an orchestra.
Every chair has been fitted with sensors which, when activated by movement, will play recorded birdsong or music inspired by birdsong such as Ralph Vaughan William’s ‘The Lark Ascending’ or Massiaen’s ‘Blackbird’
Birdsong is an uplifting sound for us all and one we learned to really listen to when the world quietened down.
