Playing with R.D.Laing’s ‘Divided Self’ and my own emotional history.

He suggests we separate our inner ‘real’ self from the outer ‘false’ self we present to the world.  I’m positing that as a result of dissociation in response to chronic childhood trauma, my real and false selves became the same - empty mirror images - devoid of content.

So here they sit, vacant, obedient and anxious, waiting to discover if what was lost can be found.
