WHEN ALGORITHMS BECOME FORM (WIP)

When Algorithms Become Form builds on my interest in post-war, late-modernist abstract painting from the 1960s and early 70s and its position as an ‘end game’ within the wider narrative of modernity, and as a precursor to the dematerialised practices/objects which followed.

When Algorithms Become Form acknowledges Harald Szeemann’s seminal exhibition(s) Live In Your Head: When Attitudes Become Form (1969) as a seismic waypoint in the art historical narrative and posits a similar ‘precipice moment’ in the contemporary cultural context with respect to visual language, image making and artificial intelligence.

When Algorithms Become Form is currently in development, conceptualised in 2020/21 but yet to be fully realised (as of 2025). The work is an ongoing and growing data bank of images.
