While we belong to ourselves, a little bit of us belongs to everyone

By  Caitlin Griffiths 2017 - 2018

Envy. Digitally manipulated portrait. 2018

A participatory-art project that aims to improve well-being and tolerance through knowledge of how the brain works and increased understanding of ourselves and others. In 2017 I began a period of research with a diverse group of experts, including a clairvoyant, a writer, an impressionist, a cognitive anthropologist, a community psychologist, a neuroscientist and a tulpamancer. These participants were all invited to take part as they bring with them a wealth of knowledge about how we experience our own and others voices. Full profiles of the participants are available here: http://www.caitlingriffiths.com/while-we-belong.html. Drawing from their knowledge and experience I have begun to make new work that investigates how we build our identities, navigate our wellbeing and relate to other people. A number of key themes are beginning to emerge: romantic love, connection and healing. An exhibition of new work and work-in-progress is currently being presented at Swiss Cottage Gallery, London from 15th Feb - 14th Apr 2018.
