Wishing Wells

By  Estelle Woolley 2017 - 2018
Wishing Wells, is a quiet and contemplative piece, made from hundreds of copper pennies sculpted into the shape of speakers, visually embodying the sound pennies falling. Modified to be at slightly different pitches and speeds, the arrangement of sounds are inspired by an interest in the Minimalist music of Steve Reich. The sound sculpture references ideas of circularity, looping, and the transient nature of time passing.
