Cut-Outs, 2023 by Emily Tracy

Artist residency and exhibition.

'Cut-Outs' was inspired by the incredible interior of 17th Century house 195 Mare Street, Hackney, London. Once an opulent residence with a collection of Dutch master paintings, the traces of its history can be seen on the walls and floors of the house. Inspired by remaining architectural detail, and imagining the lost ones, 'Cut-Outs' used profiles of mouldings to create a playful intervention. Collages sought to make reference to the global trade connections, and environmental impacts of these partnerships that the residents benefitted from.

Inhabitant, 2024 by Liz Clifford

Part of a series of sculptural works on a domestic scale, concerned with continuing growth against the odds. The detritus of agriculture, the built environment and domestic life come together by chance in the public spaces around us. This work is an assemblage of a knotted pillowcase sandbag, salvaged steel rod, scaffolding clamp and a discarded scourer.
