MEMBER TALK: SASHA DEWITT'S PIGMENT LIBRARY

We are delighted to present our third Member Talk and Q&A! Sasha DeWitt will present her research project into waste stream and locally sourced pigments where she asked the question; 

How does making my own pigments change the way I paint and create?

This artist talk shares the pigment library gathered and created over an eight month period from a local redevelopment project at Spode Works in Stoke-on-Trent. 

The research also asked:

• How/Where can waste materials be sourced?
• Which pigments can be created from waste materials?
• How does making my own pigments change the way I paint/create?

This project was funded with thanks to a bursary from Axis, as well as, the Arts Council’s National Lottery Project Grant. 

About Sasha DeWitt:

Sasha DeWitt is a multi-disciplinary artist who is currently interested in pigments, their sources, how they’re processed and how they work in paints. As part of this, she’s also trying to create a practice that’s more environmentally sustainable and so is asking questions about the sources of all the materials she uses. Read more about Sasha >here.
