Dialogue

Dialogue (2005–2007) generated new critical writing on contemporary art practice. This programme reflected on the work of artists featured across the Axis website, alongside a broader circle of emerging and mid-career artists. The aim was to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of their critical reception.

Each Dialogue edition featured essays, interviews, reviews, and documented discussions, released periodically to encourage ongoing dialogue and responses.

By involving a range of writers, Dialogue offered a platform for diverse perspectives and broad discussion. Both established visual arts writers and emerging voices contributed to the programme. The editor and an editorial panel carefully selected contributors based on themes, artists, and topics to be explored.

Editorial Panel (2005–2007)

The Dialogue editorial panel was made up of established artists, curators, critics, and academics from across the UK. The panel actively shaped the programme by proposing themes, profiling artists, and commissioning writers.

  • Michael Corris: Head of Art & Photography, University of Wales
  • Raimi Gbadamosi: Artist, curator, and writer
  • Clare Jackson: Editor, Axis
  • Doug Sandle: Reader in Visual Studies, Leeds Metropolitan University
  • Gordon Dalton: Artist, curator, and critic
  • Lisa Le Feuvre: Independent curator and writer
  • Gavin Wade: Artist-curator
  • Jon Wood: Research Coordinator, Henry Moore Institute

The views expressed in Dialogue articles were those of the contributors and not necessarily those of Axis.

This project was funded by the Arts Council England and the Arts Council of Wales, with additional support from Leeds Metropolitan University.
