Fenella Ross-Elmer
I have produced work consistently, developing work for exhibition which reflects my passion and inherent interest in the past, local areas /landscapes allow for exploration presenting derelict buildings, those which once housed families in crofts, small holdings etc, Kirks, schoolhouses and farming communities, the detritus from these times still haunts our landscape. There's a deep seated emotion running through my themes, working in series to best present various aspects of this lost past, working from drawing, photographs, producing prints reflecting these findings, presenting what was lost as found and reconstructed Imagery, honouring those buildings, machinery, boats, etc. I feel close to these times past through these processes, finding ways through exploration of imagery, colour, texture and effect of different print techniques along with trial and error all enabling me to develop concepts in each print/series that brings these images to the viewer documenting and storytelling, effectively combining different processes to ensure the outcome is best presented to the viewer, reminders and new ways seeing what once was.
