My practice has been predominantly concerned with landscape painting; by using a restricted palette and variation of tone I aim to evoke atmosphere and mood.

My creative practice to this point has been creating atmospheric paintings, developed through careful observation and exploration of the subject matter. Working with a restricted palette much consideration is given to developing tone and enhancing mood. 

I avoid being too dogmatic when attributing meaning to my work, instead leaving it up to the viewer to interpret it themselves. However, people’s reactions are often interesting to me – for me no matter how dark the subject it is the light that is my focus, even if it is only a glimmer.

The physical act of creating (painting, drawing) is important to me and I hope that the viewer feels something of the sense of calm that I feel when creating the work, giving them an opportunity to escape the noise of the everyday. 

Alongside my more commercial painting practice I am currently taking steps to explore an additional strand of my creative practice and am currently working on a project to create immersive installations; artworks to be experienced rather than passively viewed.
