Sejal Parekh

My sculptural practice is rooted in an urgency to re-examine the everyday architectures of power that shape how we live, move, listen, and remember. Often surfacing the thresholds of liminal geographies, those charged, in-between spaces where memory, identity, and power intersect.

The work moves fluidly across materials, informed by an embodied sensitivity to spaces of transition and states of in-betweenness.

I work with materials not as endpoints, but as participants in a wider conversation, each carrying its own associations, and possibilities for reconfiguration.

I continue to investigate the condition of hiraeth. It becomes a strategy through which spatial belonging and cross cultural dynamics are  surfaced and reimagining, challenging hegemonic narratives of place and self.

Through an embodied archaeology of gesture, I respond to and reconfigure materials, symbols, and actions historically weaponised to marginalise. These elements are not merely shown but transmuted into acts of refusal, intimacy and irreverence.

What emerges is an experiential field of alterity; temporal, inherent, intimate.
