Andrew Vallance

London
My practice encompasses personal and curatorial inter-disciplinary projects, primarily focusing on lens-based work. I am associate professor at Arts University Bournemouth.

My work explores the connections between memory and context, place and presence, through video and photography, screen and installation. I also co-curate the ongoing projects Contact and Underline.

Lived Experience

I co-founded the artist run projects Contact, whose projects include Assembly: A Survey of Recent British Artists’ Film and Video, 2008-13 (Tate Britain) and the publication and international screening series Film Talks: 15 Conversations on Experimental Cinema, and Underline, which would re-imagine urban space through artist intervention, and have exhibited widely, including Contact: Parts 1-2 (New Art Projects, London), which I also curated.
