A driving force behind my work is challenging the idea that there is such a thing as normality: discovering logics of representation that don’t rely on making a marginalised experience legible to ‘normal’ people and affirming their normalcy and naturalness in the process. My practice combines queer, crip, neurodivergent ways of working with the affective qualities of fannishness; burrowing into something and getting overly intense and weird about it. This excessive, shameless approach positions myself and the audience as fellow fans already on the inside, rather than presumed outsiders who require an explanation. This also formed the basis of my practice based PhD (completed in 2025). The current focus of my fannish, obsessive burrowing is figure skating. My most recent performance, self insert outside fan spiral (on ice), is a live action figure skating fan fiction taking place on an amplified piece of synthetic ice, creating an alternate universe in which queercrip skaters are the norm, and the greatest skater of all time is the ice resurfacing machine. It premiered to sold out audiences at the 2025 Take Me Somewhere Festival.
