Emma Law
My creative practice is rooted in mosaic, mixed media, surface design and the transformation of discarded materials into something unexpected and meaningful. Working with fragments, found objects, colour, texture and pattern, I enjoy exploring the possibilities of materials that might otherwise be overlooked.
Through Mosaic Malarky, I combine my own creative practice with workshops, commissions and collaborative community arts projects. I believe creativity should be accessible to everyone, regardless of experience or ability, and that the process of making can be just as valuable as the finished piece.
My approach is playful, resourceful and experimental, with a strong interest in sustainability, storytelling and the connections that develop when people make things together.
Lived Experience
Returning to education as a mature student and completing my Designer Maker degree at East Sussex College, with a degree awarded by the University of Brighton, helped me recognise and develop my creative strengths.
As a dyslexic artist, I value practical, visual and hands-on ways of learning and communicating. I know that people don't all learn or express themselves in the same way, and I aim to create welcoming, flexible spaces where different approaches are valued.
My experience of working with diverse groups through community arts has reinforced my belief that creativity can help people build confidence, share skills, connect with others and discover new possibilities. I'm passionate about making art more accessible and celebrating the value of everyone's contribution.
