Patrick Bew

Leeds

Concepts I work mainly in acrylics on paper, largely figurative. They border, in some instances, on the organically abstract, where images are allowed to emerge from unconscious marks (particularly in the larger paintings). The themes in my paintings are related to the tyranny of the moment and the images which emerge from out of it.Influences Spirituality/Religion, Emotions, History; own cultural identity (Irish, English, North American); own gender (Male)Career path Qualifications: 1975 MA Course, Manchester 1974 BA Hons, Leeds Polytechnic 1971 Foundation Course, Stockport Teaching Experience: Thorp Arch Prison, Wetherby Wetherby Borstal Collections: Dean Clough, Halifax Cartwright Hall, Bradford Arcade Gallery, Harrogate
