Jules Allen

Norfolk
Artist

Jules Allen is an artist working primarily with the book form. She explores the possibilities and significance of the hand crafted object within a contemporary fine art context.. She combines the traditional skills of bookbinding and printing to create contemporary artists' books and book ‘objects’ through engaging with places of interest and documented histories.

Recent work explores the re-ordering of the book form on to a flat plane, using binding techniques and the content of old and irretrievably damaged books to create alternative narratives and poetry.

Jules is the Founding Director of Norfolk’s only dedicated artists book fair 'turn the pageABF’, which is held annually at The Forum, Norwich.

She lives and works from her studio in rural north Norfolk.
