Hamish Gane

Swansea
Hamish Gane’s artwork and research evolve from a photographic practice predicated on notions of memory and melancholia, predominantly explored through the optic of the family.

In 2013 he was awarded a Ph.D. for his practice-based thesis entitled: Photography, Melancholy, Family: Spaces Beyond Representation and his current research explores post-representational concepts of photography. He works at Swansea College of Art, UWTSD, supervising and examining practice-based Ph.D.s across fine art, photography, film and new media. His work has been exhibited widely.
