JC Candanedo

London
I'm a Latin American multidisciplinary artist based in London combining photography, textiles and botanical research to explore themes of identity, migration, historical memory and colonial legacies.

My practice of phototextile artefacts connects contemporary artistic practices with historical research through natural materials, traditional dyeing techniques and photographic processes. In my recent body of work, I interrogate the enduring, often invisible, legacy of the European colonial project in contemporary society.
