Joshua Hart

Leeds
artist & art psychotherapist (b. 1990, Keighley)

I am an artist & art psychotherapist based in Leeds. My practice involves moving image, performance, exhibition-making, poetry, music, painting & collage. By interpolating materials (words, sounds, video footage), I catalogue & encapsulate them in self-published books, audio playlists, videos & mixed media performance installations. My work often possesses a provisional and unstable quality.

I have a long-term commitment to building sustainable communities through the collaborative development of artist-led spaces & projects including co-founding the Institute of Jamais Vu, a live-work space & gallery in London (2010-2014), & Serf, a studio & project space in Leeds (2016–present).

From 2015 to 2022 I worked as a carer at a nursing home for the elderly. This led to training as an Art Psychotherapist at the Art Therapy Northern Programme (MA, 2018–2021), and I now work as Mental Health Advisor as Leeds Arts University (since 2022).
