Kate Bones

London
I am an artist working across photographic, image based and material mediums, including analogue and digital photography, lenticulars, GIFs, and 3D scans.

I use experimental techniques and processes to produce work that expands the conventional language of photography, incorporating moving image and three-dimensionality. My themes relate to collective histories, ideas of cultural belonging in the LGBTQIA+ scene, and my personal experience of the Irish diaspora.

My career began documenting drag performers and LGBTQIA+ communities in London using an improvised 3d camera to make animated photographs that expanded on traditional photographic documentation. I used a painstaking method based on extensive research to help me refine my process in translating analogue captures to moving 3D digital images.
