My art practice is very much concerned with the relationships between architectural space, geometry and mathematics. These relationships are explored through installations predominately but not exclusively created from fine stainless steel wire stretching back and forth which challenge the viewers' perception of the architectural space. The resultant geometric forms play on the sensory vision of the viewer as an illusion starts to appear. My installations are always site specific located in both internal and external spaces. My early work as a sculptor has been preoccupied with the sphere as a pure geometric form. My recent work has begun to develop new dialogue with alternative geometric forms. With these structures I set in place boundaries to work within adopting strict rules and limitations based on the architecture of the space for which the sculpture is intended. This facilitates a thorough and methodical investigation of the forms produced. Taking the pure nature of any geometric form my art practice meticulously dissects, reduces, slices, divides, segments and/or subdivides creating an intense experience that for me questions new directions of investigation. The exploration of exposing the inner structure of the form in order to study and analyse its parts brings about a search for the actual emerging energy of rather than the form itself. This line of enquiry also encapsulates the energy of the architectural space within which the installations exist presenting a dialogue and relationship between both.
