Using inks, dyes, photographs, organic matter, textile and dry compounds, I create abstract paintings to explore shifting viewpoints and textures within the natural landscape. Responding to changing seasons and weather patterns, the layered and multi-media surfaces of my most recent work aim to capture the minutiae of plant life, from slow growing lichens and succulents to short lived grasses and flora that find a foothold in arid and volatile environments. I am inspiredby the fragility, diversity and resilience of peripheral lifeforms in a time of ecological crisis.

Currently I am developing a new body of work on paper. These drawings are smaller in scale than my previous works, allowing me to work spontaneously and rapidly in-situ, with changing light conditions. These sketches and studies allow me to capture a moment in flux, as I trace the movement of moonlight and sun shadow with graphite and ink.

My Elements and Silent Space series includes acrylic and dry medium. I draw on satellite and aerial imagery or sprawling deltas, deserts, mountain ranges, glaciers flowing at speeds imperceptible to the human eye, rivers carving paths of least resistance, and a supernova exploding in a vacuum. These paintings are an attempt to portray a glimpse, to capture a slice of time and place, fixed at a single moment.
