Myra Ryan

Wrexham

The artist`s work attempts to define the indefinable; to convey the human condition that language alone cannot fully communicate. It aims to give visual presence to feelings and emotions in a way that is universally understood. The fragile, ephemeral, materials reflect the tenuous nature of life.

Through repetition of action the work is both physical and visceral. The materials used are metaphors for the body, where the body isn`t present but is implied. They bring with them connotations from former uses many of which are embedded in our collective consciousness.

Familiar materials used in unexpected ways bring additional layers of meaning, allowing multiple interpretations.
The work is deliberately open, ambiguous, thought provoking, challenging; encouraging the viewer to pause for a moment to consider, to reflect and to act as forensic investigator interpreting the clues the artist has left within the work.
