Simon Hall

Bristol
UK based contemporary artist exploring the intersection of art, medicine and emerging technologies

Simon Hall is a visual artist dual qualified as both a doctor and dentist. His curiosity driven arts research utilises emerging digital technologies, sculpture, installation and Bio-Art to consider medical ethics and the body in health and disease. With multi-faceted experience, particularly in the interface of technology, reconstructive and regenerative medicine, his work often transects arts and medical spaces to explore issues of bodily stigma, visual difference and identity.

His collaborative arts practice draws in diverse project partners including charities, academic institutions and the general public. Simon embeds patient values in creative outcomes and often co-designs with service users, bridging communication with scientists and healthcare professionals. His projects often creatively uncover narratives through participatory public engagement experiences. From art installations utilising skin cell culture for burns and wound healing, to virtual reality exploring personalised digital-self data, Simon's work seeks to playfully craft using scientific materials and connect through storytelling.
