My Acme London studio has been a terrific facility for over 35 years and allowed me to develop and explore concepts, whilst continuing with  art practices outside the studio with life drawing, sketches, and water-based paintings of landscape, and hundreds of 30 second quick drawings from everywhere - animals, still life, colleagues at work, buildings and landscape. 

All this practice of painting and drawing outside the studio helps inform the oil-based studio work which is developed and progressed through abstraction into large scale oil paintings. The studio has been an essential support for my relationship with painting and to always be exploring its possibilities. I'm a frequent visitor to London galleries and I am intrigued by 1000 years of art history with its cultural and social context, and its radical thinkers. 

 I am inspired by the Renaissance painters, architects and designers. And I have a love of Fra Angelico, Titian, Turner, Rembrandt, Ivon Hitchins, Helen Frankenthaler,  Joan Eardley, Joan Mitchell, Frank Bowling and so many more.

Further inspiration comes from a great conversation, a provocative read, or a magnificent sunrise, and animals, views or a landscape - in addition to other experiences of great people with thought-stopping discussions.
