By  Claire Barber 2022
A talk presented on 18th November 2022 at the Festival of the Quilts, the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. During the presentation, Gavin Osborn (musician and sound artist) and I consider our first experience of each other’s work at the exhibition we both participated in called Unravelled Wetlands, and subsequently, how we have been testing the versatility of the sound and embroidery exchange through musical compositions. During the talk, we share our approaches to sound-based structures including a poetic interpretation of quilt that links to aspects of change, Gavin Osborn is a flutist, composer, interdisciplinary artist & teacher based in the Northwest. Active for over 20 years as a performer, Gavin specialises in new music, whether acoustic or electroacoustic, through-composed, open-form, graphic, or improvised.
