A Wandle Wonder Wander

Created for Wandsworth Arts Fringe festival in 2021, the Wandle Wonder Wander is an augmented reality walk along the banks of the river Wandle, from Merton Abbey Mills to the Thames. As you follow the route, using the medium of your mobile device, images, sounds and animated artworks will puncture the fabric of time momentarily, poking their past into your presence to reveal the wonder of the Wandle’s rich heritage. A Wandle Wonder Wander is a collaborative project by XAP artists, continuing our fascination with rivers, particularly those urban waterways that have been lost and refound. This mixed-reality geolocation-based walk explores change, renewal, loss and quiet resilience along this special waterway.
