Am I Persephone?

By  Alice Kin 2022

Imbolc 2022, the veils are thin between this world and the next, and I have been beaten by winter. Too cold for too long. If I was weak, I am weaker now.
Living close to the elements, every Imbolc is a radical test of my resilience. Winter is not over yet. The wood store is depleted and I am beholden to feeding my stove. No freedom, no flails of expression, in this hard numb and dumb mood, I am close to our ancestors.

This video harnesses the involuntary experience of winter. Parallels with other unwanted experiences, imaging the tale of Persephone and Hades through modern eyes.
Filmed with deep gratitude to the Thieving Magpies who danced and made big noises, keeping me safe from the cold for a hour or five.
