Amarylla Guerrilla

Amarylla Guerilla is a conceptual political piece. Plant describes this work as a response to the growing number of guerilla gardeners active in Britain today; political activists who seize the moment to plant on public or common ground in defiance of town planners' attempts to cut costs by concreting over or neglecting this space. Not requiring any public sector funding, concrete or dumped rubble serve to cut costs and jobs at the expense of the aesthetic beauty of flowers and shrubs. Making the point to government that tax payers have a right to contribute to the attainment of, and an instinct to create, beauty on public land, Plant demonstrates a scenario where the town council seeks to issue a financial fine and a punishment to those daring to achieve independent planting within a public space.
