'And breathe', said the Machine. Permanent exhibition in the Historic Boardroom at Torbay Hospital
H. Snell
Final install of twelve co-created drawings with NHS staff that articulate their responses to the word wellbeing, now on permanent exhibition in the historic boardroom at Torbay hospital. The mirror frames are engraved with quotes from staff testimonies. The frames serve to capture the reflection of the viewer so that they too become implicated in the narrative.
The drawings, and the quotes that accompany them, may challenge our preconceptions, our notions about what our colleagues ought to be thinking and feeling: that is as it should be. Helen Snell's work gives a voice to the people who care. It is fitting that a selection of these drawings will form a permanent collection in the boardroom of the Trust, opening a line of communication from the frontline to the top. They will act as a reminder that strategic direction must be enacted through individual people, and that high-level decisions affect real human beings. " D. Alderson and J.
