The work was also inspired by the architect Tadao Ando's writing on the significance of the wall - 'Buildings, Projects, Writings'. New York 1984. The dynamics of stress and tension create balance and harmony which reflects the individuals conflict with inner and external life, spiritual and temporal reality. Apprehension reflects these concerns in the form of a drawbridge, permanently suspended, signifying either acceptance or rejection.
