Baby, Baby, You Have Hidden Depths explores the breakdown of a love affair, seen here as the final show down in a western style bar.
Emotions move between tenderness and fury. Gender stereotypes called to arms, are found in the costumes of the figures and the labels of the bottles.
During the exchange identity and gender become ambiguous and intertwined.
After the final act of adding gold to the leopard print pants, the figure on the left seemed to be issuing an invitation to embrace freedom, a step too far for the other figure. I like that this painting tends to elicit a laugh.
