Bankers on Active Community Service (London)

Photographer: Ella Woodcock

Bankers on Active Community Service or BACS is a participatory street theatre show devised and performed by The Delegates. It satirically reimagines a world in which the profligate bankers publicly apologise, and personally repent for the financial scandals they instigated, and profited from. Thus repaying, via a rhetorical BACS transaction, their debt to society. The film documents guerrilla performances in London, July 2013. Locations include Dalston, East London, the City of London and the Bank of England. Each location has a resonance with the financial crisis; and dialogically engaged publics living and working in its geographic, social and economic shadow.
