"Beech Colour Chart "

By  Tim Pugh 2016
The leaf installation was created at Hawarden Woods in Flintshire,North Wales during a stormy day in November 2016.I collected freshly fallen beech leaves and cut them into squares and arranged them into a colour sequence resembling a colour chart or watercolour box.The colours were representative of the colours of the seasons and I arranged them to graduate in tonal range.Heavy rainwater had soaked the bark surface acting as an adhesive in which to apply the squares in sequential order.Photographic documentation of the artwork had to be quickly under taken as the rain had stopped with the treetrunk drying out, resulting in the leaf squares blowing off in the breeze.
