Beyond Boundaries

By  Ann Goddard 2006

Ann Goddard

Soft Materials: silk noil fibres, cotton fabric, threads, scrim, paper yarn

Hard Materials: reclaimed wood, wire mesh, metal fixings

Techniques: drilling & cutting slate, sawing wood, trapping, knotting, felted silk paper making, hand stitch

The piece consists of seven wall hung units.

Part of a body of work investigating the concept of boundaries, questioning their role and exploring the way in which they impinge on our everyday lives. This interest initially arose from examining the context of my practice within the contemporary art world, and the ensuing difficulty in categorizing work that straddles the boundaries between textiles and sculpture.
